International Islamic Economics Olympiad

• The Olympiad is organized by Camp de Olympiad.
• The aims are to stimulate interest in Islamic economic studies, highlight the quality of knowledge among young people, facilitate social contacts, and recognize excellence.
• The Olympiad is a competition between individual students selected to represent their country.
• The competition consists of three parts: a Written Response Test (WRT), a Business Case Analysis (BCA), and an Islamic Financial Literacy Test (IFLT).
• The official language of the Olympiad is English.

• Participants include students, team leaders and observers.
• There shall be no discrimination as regards race, ethnic group, citizenship, religion, gender or political opinion.

Students:

• A team includes up to six (6) students.
• Ages must be between 16 and 19 years old (inclusive) on August 1st of the year the Olympiad takes place.
• Must be students of secondary schools or have finished in the year of the Olympiad and not yet commenced tertiary education.
• Must be selected through a national competition in their country of school enrollment.
• A student may participate in an Olympiad no more than twice.

Team Leaders:

• Teams are accompanied by up to two adult team leaders.
• Leaders must be involved in economic education and be fluent in English.
• One leader is a member of the International Board, while the other's primary role is student supervision.

Observers:

• The organisers of the next two Olympiads may each send observers as approved by the Steering Committee.
• A country that has not participated, but is intending to participate in the next Olympiad, may send one observer with the approval of the Steering Committee.
• Any other observer must be approved by the Steering Committee and this would only be done in exceptional circumstances.
• Observers may be present at meetings of the International Board, but may not vote.

• The tests and marks assigned are: Written Response Test (40%), Business Case Analysis (40%), and Islamic Financial Literacy Test (20%).
• Tests are prepared by committees under the supervision of the Steering Committee.
• Students complete assignments individually. Violation shall result in disqualification.
• Non-native English speakers may use an approved text-only bilingual dictionary and are given extra time for written tests.
• Approximately 50% of participating students receive a medal (Gold, Silver, Bronze in a 1:2:3 ratio).

International Board (IB):

Consists of one team leader from each participating country. The IB assists in conducting the Olympiad and defines the themes and skills to be included in the tests.

Steering Committee:

Appointed by the organizer, Camp de Olympiad. The committee coordinates the long-term work, promotes the Olympiad, selects future hosts, accepts new countries, and oversees all aspects of the tests and awards.

Local Organizing Committee (LOC):

For future face-to-face events, the host institution will form an LOC responsible for all logistical aspects of the Olympiad.

• The current online Olympiad has no participation fee.
• For future face-to-face events, the participating country pays for travel, insurance, and visa costs for its delegation.
• A fee will be paid to the local organizer for each participant to contribute to costs. The local organizer covers all other expenses.

• Changes to these Statutes can only be made by the Steering Committee and require a 2/3 majority vote.
• Participation in the Olympiad signifies acceptance of these Statutes.
• The original and definitive version of these Statutes is written in English.
• The Statutes of the International Islamic Economics Olympiad should be reviewed by a committee every 4 years.
